"...there is an enchantment in these dry canyons that once roared with water, and sometimes still do, that absorbed the voices of those who came
before...something of massive dignity about sandstone beds that tell of a past long before human breathing, that bear the patterns of ancient winds
and water in their crossbeds."
-Ann Zwinger, Wind in the Rock
canyoneering
Rocks dominate the landscape of the Colorado Plateau. Due to many complex geological forces, there exists
over 130,000 square miles of fascinating rock formations and complex canyon systems extending across the four
Southwestern states of Colorado, New Mexico, Arizona and Utah.

Water cuts this area’s relatively soft bedrock into canyons that are typically steep and tight. The results are
twisting corridors with sections that narrow to only a couple of feet wide and less. In these sinuous landscapes, we
can spend hours exploring the hidden recesses.

Southern Utah is currently the most popular site for canyoneering. The sheer number of canyons and their
varying technical difficulty means people of all skill levels and ages can enjoy the sport. On the easier side we offer
relatively short hikes and straight-forward technical challenges such as rappelling. For the more athletic folks we
offer strenuous hikes with multiple rappels and exposure to cold and lengthy swims in desolate locations. Regardless
of your experience level we have an exciting and informative trip available! Allow us to help you decide which trip is
appropriate for you & your group…

Moab Canyons

For the visitor looking just to explore a new activity or looking to get a new perspective of the Moab desert, we
offer outstanding half- and full-day trips with varying difficulties and challenges. If you have a little more time and
energy we recommend you consider our other canyoneering trips one to two hours form Moab (see below); these
include both wet and dry canyons of varying technicality and physical exertion:

Cedar Mesa

Wet, wet, wet! These deeply cut and large canyons south west of Moab present sections filled with deep and chilly
water that rarely (if ever) sees the light of day! Lush green grottos combined with subway-shaped rock tunnels
attest to the volumes of water and force which occasionally careen their way to Lake Powell. Expect ancient ruins,
hiking, climbing, scrambling, jumping, rappelling, wading, and swimming to be a part of these stunningly beautiful
and very exciting day trips.
Hanksville Canyons

The dust-bowl town of Hanksville is the jumping-off point for a our dry canyon adventures. We choose from more
than a dozen incredibly sculpted and polished slot canyons that offer the same exceptional experience as the wet canyons, only without the swims. Each canyon
is unique in the challenges it provides (rappels, downclimbs, narrowness), but they all have one thing in common; ear-to-ear grins! Adults and kids love this
natural rock playground which is hard to believe and harder to leave!
